Houston Pekingese Rescue was formed when it was found there was a need to help these animals who were being abandoned, neglected and abused. It's hard to believe someone could abuse or neglect one of these little souls, but it happens.

When rescued, these animals need rehabilitation, they need to be taught again, how to trust in those humans who have hurt them. Many have not had any inoculations, grooming, eye care or been spayed or neutered.

​Our dogs normally come to us from the Houston, TX area. All dogs that come into rescue with us receive all needed medical attention, a safe and comfortable home environment, needed training, and of course, the love and attention they need.

If due to health or age, a dog is determined to be un-adoptable, they become sanctuary dogs where they live out their lives in peace, comfort and love. We do not euthanize dogs to make room!
